Academician Shi Changxu visited Magnesium Center
CCMG Apr 22, 2008
On April 17, 2008, Academician Shi Changxu, Academician Xu Xi, Academician Hu Zhuangqi, Academician Jin Yong, Academician Zhao Zhenye and Academician Zeng Sumin, who participated in “The Academician Forum of Advanced Materials With Sustainable Development” held in Chongqing, visited the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys companied by Prof. Chen Demin, Vice-president of Chongqing University, Prof. Bai Chenguang, Director of Department of Human Resources, Prof. Pan Fusheng, Director of National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys  and  Prof. Liu Qing, Dean of College of Materials Science and Engineering.
Academician Shi Changxu , one of the five pioneers vigorously advocating the development of the magnesium alloys in the beginning of this century, has always paid his attention to magnesium alloy research and the industrial development, and also gave a lot of suggestions and proposals, which  played in a great important role in the development of magnesium alloy in China.
After the academicians visited the experimental workshop, the facilities of analysis and the exhibition room of the research center, they discussed with our center staffs in the meeting room of the Center. The academicians were much satisfied with the achievements of the development of magnesium alloy, the promotion of   the industrialization, the talents for education and the international cooperation. In addition, they also pointed out that the development of magnesium alloys and the processing technology were still in the early stages in China. Contrast with the foreign countries, there was still some gaps. Fortunately, we could open a window in the field of transport, 3C products, defense industry and military in applications of magnesium alloys.
Furthermore, the academicians hoped that the members of our center should work hard continually and do more efforts to solve the key issues of corrosion, deformation etc. of magnesium alloys, and promote the large-scale applications of magnesium alloy products as soon as possible in various fields.
