Famous magnesium alloy expert Prof. S. Kamado visited CCMG

    Director of Japan Nagaoka National Science University high performance magnesium Engineering Research Center S. Kamado, the international renowned magnesium alloy experts, visited CCMG of Chongqing University on August 17, 2010.
    Prof. S. Kamado, known as “Top 1 of Japan magnesium alloys research” with high international reputation in magnesium alloy industry, committed to a long-term research of the basic theory and applied of magnesium-based material. He is the consultant of magnesium alloy development in some large enterprises, such as Japanese Hitachi Metals, Kobe Steel, Suzuki motorcycles, Honda metal and Development Department, IHI and Sankyoalumi tec.. The high-performance magnesium Engineering Research Center where Prof. S. Kamado works is the only one National magnesium alloy research center in Japan, whose researches in magnesium alloy materials are at the international advanced level.
    The Director of CCMG Prof. Pan Fu-sheng, President of the collage of Materials Science and Engineering and deputy director of CCMG Prof. Liu Qing and Deputy Director of CCMG Prof. Zhang Dingfei met with the visiting guests. During the talk, President Prof. Liu welcomed Prof. S. Kamado to visit and briefly introduced the participants from CCMG. Director Prof. Pan Fusheng highlighted the magnesium alloy R & D and magnesium industry development status of Chongqing University and Chongqing region. He mentioned that Nagaoka University of Technological Sciences has very strong capabilities in the research and application of magnesium alloy, and pointed out the two sides will continue to expand cooperation. Deputy Director Prof. Zhang Dingfei introduced the researches, regulatory agencies, laboratory equipment, research areas and product applications of CCMG. Prof. S. Kamado made a wonderful academic report entitled “Research progress of magnesium-based materials” which focuses on the research progress of his research group in the high-performance magnesium alloy. Dr. Xu Shiwei who accompanied Prof. S. Kamado also made an academic report. After the report, both sides discussed the issues of magnesium alloy material and processing technology deeply.
     The visit and in-depth exchanges increased the Japanese guests’ understanding of CCMG, which accelerated the establishment of international cooperation by two sides.
