In the morning of May 15, 2009, academician Liu Yexiang, a famous metallurgy, materials and electrochemical scientist, visited Chongqing University, and gave a lecture. Prof. Bai Chenguang, Vice president of Chongqing University, representing Chongqing University, welcomed to academician Liu Yexiang. Prof. Pan Fusheng, Director of the National Engineering Research Center of magnesium alloys, introduced the research and development, the international cooperation, the technology development and the industrialization in magnesium alloys of magnesium center in recent years. Academician Liu gave a highly remark to the achievements of Chongqing University in magnesium alloys and gave full accreditation to Chongqing University for his contributions to the magnesium industries in China.
    In addition, Academician Liu Yexiang also gave a lecture named “new energy materials development of cutting-edge”. Prof. Peng Xiaoqin, Chairman of department of Materials Science and Engineering Council presided the lecture. The lecture lasted for nearly two hours and was well-received.
